Ways to care for your hair extension
Taking care of hair extensions is an ongoing process. I once had a friend that no matter how gorgeous her hair looks on the first day, wait till you see it the next day. So before you bring out a serious amount of cash especially in this recession thinking that's all it takes to always look gorgeous take a quick look at these helpful tips.Brushing-Brushing your extensions is a regular upkeep kind of thing. It is something you should always do using a soft bristle brush. Start at the bottom, detangling that area first and slowly work your way up, be gentle.
Washing: Wash your extensions using gentle shampoo and conditioner. Do not use shampoo and conditioner containing sulphates, formaldehyde, isopropyl alcohol as these have strong chemicals that strip the hair of natural oil thereby making them dry (sponge tip) if used for a long period of time.
Allow them dry naturally- Hair professionals always stress how damaging excessive heat is to hair extensions. It is advised that you leave them to dry naturally.
Condition like a professional- To keep your hair extension in shape, use a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment at least twice a month depending on your hair needs.
Styling- You can blow dry it as you would your natural hair, curl with a curling iron, straighten with a straightening iron and also dye, everything you can do to your natural hair.
Heat- Heat damages the hair like earlier stated. The more you use it the shorter the life span of your hair. Do not use high temperatures as the damage the hair, use in moderation.
Sleep- Put your hair up, braid or pin curl to prevent tangles and do not sleep with wet hair as is causes tangles.
