An Indian man who was a victim of a bus crash was asked to use the cut off part of his leg as a pillow in one of the hospitals in India. Ghanshyam Singh, a school employee, was severely injured during a school bus accident which also injured 25 school children.
The patient’s brother-in-law told SWNS he was rushed to a hospital 33 miles from the accident site, where doctors amputated his leg and then placed it under his head as a pillow.
"When we reached the hospital, we saw his leg being used as a headrest,” Janaki Prasad said.
The outraged relative said, "I repeatedly asked the doctors to intervene but they refused. Finally, after about two hours, I managed to get a pillow for him from the market and that's when the leg was removed."The Medical Education Ministry has suspended the emergency medical officer, senior resident and two nurses involved in the case.

MAN ASSULTS WIFE FOR WEARING MAKE UP

A man beat his wife mercilessly and sexually assaulted her for wearing makeup and keeping long hair.
As the world marked International Women’s Day on Thursday, a woman in Mombasa, Kenya, was nursing injuries at the Coast General Hospital after she was assaulted by her husband.
Medical evidence suggested that objects had been inserted in her private parts.
Mary (not her real name) told The Standard that a man she has lived with for 10 years beat her up following a disagreement.
“My husband told me to shave my hair and stop wearing make-up, but I told him that I had long hair and wore make-up even before I met him.
“He beat me up and threatened to burn me alive with my children,” said the mother of two.
Mary’s rather simple life was turned upside-down, but this was not the first time she was being assaulted.
“The Monday attack was extreme. He picked a knife and threatened to stab me, but my nine-year-old child intervened, asking him not to kill me.
“I screamed for help, but my neighbours could not access the house because he had locked the door,” Mary recounted.
She believed her child’s brave action saved her life. But the thought that she has left her children with her husband haunts her daily.
“I am an orphan and have nowhere to go to. I don’t know what will happen to my children now that they are still in the same house with the man that did this evil to me. I fear for them because that man was ready to set us on fire,” she said.
Mary, who was taken to hospital by her neighbours, is so devastated that all she wants is to “die right now.”
Last November, her husband also assaulted her and she was rescued by a neighbour.
Hospital staff said Mary was stable and waived some charges as is the norm when dealing with victims of gender-based violence.

Women in Spain have just staged the country's first national "feminist strike" and politicians are taking notice. For decades, Spanish women did what women all over the world do on International Women's Day — held protests, seminars and marches.
But this year they tried something different: Taking part in an unprecedented national strike.
"Yearly demonstrations are not enough to make the situation for women improve," journalist and feminist Cristina Mas said.
"Like all workers in the world, a strike is the way for us to defend our rights and so we chose to use it."

The two main trade unions supported half-day stoppages and estimated that nearly 6 million people took part.
Unai Sordo, general secretary of Comisiones Obreras, a union with more than one million members, called it a "historic day".
The result was felt across the nation, with many schools and universities closing, public transport reduced to holiday schedules and essential services cut back to a minimum.

The Federal Government has revealed that primary and secondary school pupils across the country will commence the learning science subjects and mathematics in indigenous languages.
Making the disclosure during a retreat organized for researchers in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Director-General of the National Center for Technology Management, Prof. Okechukwu Ukwuoma, said experts are being contracted to translate science and Mathematics in various indigenous languages.Ukwuoma, who is a member of a committee set up to supervise the project, said, “Last year, the Minister of Science and Technology and the Minister of Education inaugurated a committee to teach science and mathematics in indigenous languages.
“The major issue in that regard is the translation of terminologies to the languages for which we have consulted experts in different languages in the country.
“The don, who commended the Federal government on the idea, expressed optimism in the success of the project. He also noted that many textbooks had already been translated to some Nigerian languages through the efforts of the committee.
He lamented the lack of good research works in the country, blaming it on the lust for quick and easy money amongst the people. He added, “All over the world everything about science and technology is always hard to sell because you need to convince people.
“Nigerians are good researchers, but they lack something. Many businessmen who are supposed ensure the commercialization of research inventions prefer to buy fake ones outside the country and come back to make quick money.”

Arik Air Makes Emergency Landing In Ghana

Another major air disaster was on Tuesday, averted when an Arik plane made an emergency landing in Ghana after smoke was detected in the cabin.
The incident involved a fully-loaded Ghana-bound Dash 8 NextGen propeller aircraft with registration number, W3304 Stephen. It was gathered that no sooner than 35 minutes after the plane took off from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos for Accra, Ghanaian capital than smoke started coming out from the cabin.
One of the passengers onboard the aircraft disclosed that there was confusion in the plane as air hostesses were busy scampering around, opening the cabins and the lavatories to check if they could trace the source of the smoke without success.
According to the thankful passenger, “While that continued, the oxygen masks that were always being advertised during the safety demo prior to take-off couldn’t be released instead we were handed tissue papers (otherwise called serviets) to use to cover our noses to minimize and filter out possible carbon monoxide inhalation.
“About 5 minutes after, precisely with 15 minutes of flight time remaining, the pilot came on the public address system to inform us that they have smoke coming into the cabin and that they don’t know the source and that they have declared emergency”.
To the glory of God, the flight successfully landed by 8.15pm (7.15pm Accra time) to the waiting of several fire service trucks at Kotoko International airport, Accra.
“We were evacuated into a waiting bus with instruction to leave everything behind in the cabin. Sadly there was no Arik official to address us neither was there any manner of first aid attention given to the passengers to manage stress and possible elevated blood pressures,” the passenger lamented.
Confirming the incident via a statement, the airline said no-one was hurt during the incident.
The statement reads: “Arik Air flight W3 304 from Lagos to Accra on March 6, 2018 declared an emergency in line with standard operating procedures, when unknown source of smoke was detected in the cabin 81 miles from Accra.
“The captain of the flight briefed the passengers accordingly assuring them that the aircraft was under control and safe for landing in Accra.
“The aircraft, a Dash 8 Q400, landed safely in Accra without further incident and all passengers disembarked normally.
“The aircraft is currently parked in Acrra and our team of engineers are conducting comprehensive inspections on the aircraft to ascertain the cause of the smoke, after which the aircraft will be flown without passengers to a maintenance facility for rectification and testing.
“The relevant aviation authorities in Ghana and Nigeria have been briefed appropriately on the incident.”
The incident occured barely on month after emergency exit door fell off a Dana Air jet as it landed in Abuja after flying in from Lagos.
In another averted disaster, an Atlanta-bound Delta airlines jet was forced to return to Lagos after a fire was detected in one of its engines with passengers using emergency slides to evacuate the plane, officials said.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has commenced investigation into how Dana Air plane overshot the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport.

My mother inlaw visited.
I didn't know why she came home that evening, but I had a feeling David might have told her that I was back from America.
After my father inlaw died some years ago, she took over the twelve branches of Hills of grace ministries. She accused every pastor In each branch for killing her husband, and arrested everyone of them.
Hills of grace ministry used to be Church of Jesus ministries, but she and her only son David (my husband) had the church changed with new pastors and members.
Georgina being a boss lady wanted everything to be done in her own way at all times.
The church members referred to her as the queen mother. She was bossy, overruling, and very authoritative.
"I heard you were back Ekom." Her voice sounded slightly rough as though some unexpected emotions had partially locked her throat.
"Yes mom." I replied softly.
"I came here for a lot of reasons. Number one; the congregation of Hills ministries is tired of you. I am tired of you, my son is tired of you!" She said meanly in British accent.
"My husband never said that."
"Does he need to say it? I am telling my son's mind. He has been married to you for 12 years without a child of your own! we do not need adopted strange kids to come inherit my late husband's sweath! He needs children, I need grandchildren. My son is not Abraham in the bible! He is David Okoye, he is my son. not the son of Terah!"
Her stern Visage hardly invited my confidence, but I was used to that.
"Those kids are my adopted kids, those girls you see? my husband and i agreed to adopt them together. they are our children. "

"Go born yours! it's either you gave birth to them or you didn't! you are barren!
leave Ifeoma to have my grand child in this house, in peace! After that I will join them together in holy matrimony after she has put to birth."
My heartbeat slowed inside my chest. As I turned to David who was momentarily stuck dumb.
"I am still married to my husband. we married in church. He is a man of God."
"David in the bible was a man of God, Solomon was a man of God. All these men were married to countless women. A man is entitled to as many wives as he wants. If you don't agree, you can sign this." She handed a paper to me, I knew what it was. But I didn't touch it, I didn't get it from her.
"I won't sign for a divorce!" I said angrily as tears moistened my eyes.
"When you're tired Ekom, you will sign and leave my son's life!"
"it's okay mom." David said soothingly.
"She is my wife. She has the right to counter this. I know what I want. the church shouldn't hear about this yet ." he said and stood to walk away.
Georgina flew from her seat and started to shout, her voice was unsteady.
"You know nothing! I warned you against marrying a Calaber woman, but you didn't listen. you must do as I say! marry ifeoma and let go of this demon!"
"Don't talk to Ekom that way mom, she is still my wife!" David screamed!
The kids ran and hugged me so tight, they were so scared.
It was after Georgina left that I felt chilled by fear. it was the worse moment of my life.
That night I prayed that God should change things around for my good. That night, David came to my bed, while the kids were asleep......

I was still devastated with the thoughts of Ifeoma and my husband David. After I watched the kids sleep, I strolled into the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea.
Just after I poured the milk in a mug, I felt someone was in the kitchen too. I looked back, quickly surprised.
"Welcome madam." She said, almost stuttering.
I slowly poured the hot water from the flask into the mug, stirred it a bit and sipped.
Then I noticed a protruded stomach, she had tried to cover it with her handbag.
"Are you pregnant Ifeoma? you look it." I asked in a soft tone.
Her expression was in earnest. "Yes madam, didn't pastor tell you? I am pregnant for him, we are expecting a child."
Her voice had a tremor in it, even though her face was bold and firm.
Her words were like the score of a sharpened blade across my heart. I sensed the wound gape open even before she'd finished speaking.
"You were sleeping with my husband while I was away?"
"I am sorry madam, I think pastor is in the best place to answer that question. it was an agreement."
She said calmly and walked out of the kitchen, making a flappy sound with her shoes.
I stood there for moments like a mannequin, the tea cup in my hands, and then my eyes right at the door.
The sound of my ringing tone, brought me back from the shock I had.
"Hello Ekom?"
"Yes Lizzy." I responded with a sigh of relieve.
"Thank God I have been able to reach you, I have been dialing your American lines but not going through." she sounded a bit terrified.
"well, I am back in Nigeria now. I came in this morning. Is everything fine?"
"Not at all, pastor brought your girl for maternity scan at my clinic last weekend. What's that her name again?"
"Ifeoma?"
"Yeah, Ifeoma. I was shocked to see her all over him like they were lovers. What is happening?"
Tears rolled down my eyes as Lizzy went on talking about things that went on while I was away. Something flared deep in my eyes, but my lips remained sealed.

I wanted to talk to David. When I knew he was home I decided to go to our bedroom.
"May I come in?" My expression inscrutable, I walked into the room when I noticed that someone was having a bath, without waiting for a reply.
Then I saw David on the bed, he was almost half naked, partly covered with the duvet.
He stared at me, slightly muzzy headed after being woken abruptly.
"We have to talk." I said, almost whispering.
"I know." he said.
"Who is in the bathroom?"
"oh, it's Ifeoma."
"Ifeoma now uses our bathroom?" I looked at David and suddenly wished the look in his eyes meant guilt and shame.
"Yes. She is having my baby."
"I am aware David. But why have you taken yourself so down?"
"I am a human being Ekom!" He said huskily, raising his voice.
"So I am what? Am I not a human being too? I went to America in the church's name, with the family name. I went there to make a name for us! To get Hills of grace ministries a branch in Houston takes so many churches years, but I used my charisma, and did that in few months....."
"What I mean is....." He faltered. But my heart was going wild.
"let me finish!" I screamed!
Just after a pause, Ifeoma came out of the bathroom, she had my towel tied around her.
"Who gave you my towel?" I asked meanly.
"I did." David replied.
"Ifeoma, why were you sleeping with my husband while I was away? You were paid to take care of the kids, and clean the house." The look I gave, and my voice tone practically froze the blood in her veins.
I walked steps by steps towards her, dragged the towel off her body, leaving her naked.
"Aunty please...." she whimpered.
"Did you remember all the good things I did for you and your family while you were having sex with my husband! did you?" I held her neck forcefully while David ran and held me backward.
They both sensed the tension in the room and ran out.

The film which is sure to eclipse the ninth spot on the list, after 2017′s Beauty and the Beast, has made $504m domestically.
The superhero film could even pass The Avengers, which made $623m domestically in 2012 and is the highest-grossing Marvel film of all time.
The film has already notched several box office feats. It brought in $242m domestically in its four-day opening weekend — just behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Those numbers make Black Panther the fifth largest opening of all time, and the top February opening weekend.
With a black director — Ryan Coogler — at the helm and a nearly all-black cast, Black Panther is striking a chord with fans, especially African-American audiences.

Saudi Arabia Appoints First Female Top Government Post

Saudi Arabia has replaced some of its top military officers in a series of personnel changes that elevate a younger generation, bring a woman into a senior government job, and tighten Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s grip on power.
In a reshuffle announced on Monday, the military chief of staff, air defense, and land forces heads and senior defense and interior ministry officials were removed. Tamadur bint Youssef al-Ramah became deputy labour minister, a rare high-level job for a woman in the deeply conservative kingdom.
The crown prince, who is also defense minister and heir apparent, has promised reforms to wean Saudi Arabia off oil exports, create jobs, and open up Saudis’ cloistered lifestyles.
The latest personnel changes were decreed by King Salman and published in state media. No reason for the changes was given.
The decrees included adopting a new strategy to restructure the defense ministry for improved organization and governance, but provided few details.
The overhaul was a nod to a younger generation, analysts said, in what has become a hallmark of the crown prince’s approach to ruling youthful Saudi Arabia, where patriarchal traditions have long made power the preserve of the old.
The appointment of a woman at the labour ministry is part of efforts to modernise and promote a more moderate form of Islam.
Prince Mohammed has loosened social restrictions, scaling back the role of religious police and permitting public concerts.
The government has announced plans to allow women to drive this year, and said women no longer need the consent of a male relative to open their own businesses, a step away from the kingdom’s guardianship system.
A senior Saudi cleric said last month that women need not wear the abaya — the loose-fitting, full-length robe symbolic of religious faith; and another prominent sheikh said that celebrating Valentine’s Day did not contradict Islamic teachings, defying the religious police’s hardline position.
Greg Gause, a Gulf expert at Texas A&M University, said the injection of more junior officials could help the crown prince cultivate a bloc within the royal family that is supportive of him at younger levels.
“But, and this is a big ‘but’, he is not appointing them to positions in the central government, at least not yet,” said Gause. “He is keeping power in the cabinet centralised in his hands.”

The mind of an accused school shooter: I want to kill ‘50 or 60. If I get lucky maybe 150.’

Six days before he allegedly opened fire on an elementary school playground, the eighth-grader returned to his Instagram group chat to fixate, yet again, on his most intense interests: guns and bombs and the mass murder of children.
“My plan,” wrote Jesse Osborne, who had turned 14 three weeks earlier, “is shooting my dad getting his keys getting in his truck, driving to the elementary school 4 mins away, once there gear up, shoot out the bottom school class room windows, enter the building, shoot the first class which will be the 2d grade, grab teachers keys so I don’t have to hasle to get through any doors.”
He had been researching other school shooters for months and, determined to outdo them, learned exactly how many people they’d murdered: 13 at Columbine High; 26 at Sandy Hook Elementary; 32 at Virginia Tech.
“I think ill probably most likely kill around 50 or 60,” Jesse declared. “If I get lucky maybe 150.”
On Valentine’s Day, at the same time police say another angry teen, Nikolas Cruz, slaughtered 17 people at a Parkland, Fla., high school with a semiautomatic AR-15, Jesse was sitting in a South Carolina courtroom, waiting to find out whether he would be tried as an adult for a 2016 rampage that left his father and a 6-year-old dead.
The two teens have much in common. Both, investigators say, tortured animals, obsessed over guns and bragged of their deadly intentions on social media. And in the hours after Cruz’s alleged murders, as the nation began, once again, to ask why, a group of detectives, prosecutors and psychiatrists were providing answers about Jesse, now 15. He’d detailed his motives in dozens of online messages, in his 46-page confession and in lengthy interviews with doctors who evaluated him, offering extraordinary insight into the mind of an American school shooter.
For Peter Langman, one of the country’s leading experts on the subject, the teen’s calculated approach and lack of empathy called to mind Eric Harris, one of the Columbine killers Jesse idolized.
“The coldbloodedness, the callousness of the attack — not only before but afterwards,” said Langman, who was not involved in the case but has reviewed Jesse’s confession. “Even having done it, he’s not struck with horror or guilt.”

In fact, James Ballenger, a psychiatrist who interviewed Jesse for a total of nine hours, found that the teen reveled in what he’d done.
“He wants to talk about how dangerous he is,” Ballenger testified. “He wanted people to know.”
At the five-day hearing that began Feb. 12, prosecutors pushed for Jesse to be tried as an adult because if he remained in the juvenile system, he could only be held until age 21. Jesse’s defense team, meanwhile, tried to portray him as a lost but misunderstood child, alleging that he had been bullied by kids at school and mistreated by his father at home.
Jesse, who grew up on his family’s chicken farm, liked to shoot guns, but so did many boys his age in Townville, a rural community 40 miles southwest of Greenville. He camped with his grandparents, whom he adored, and watched the movie “Frozen,” one of his favorites. An avid reader of history, he told his family he wanted to fly to space one day.
At odds with that portrait were Jesse’s own words, captured in dozens of messages he’d exchanged in his private chat group, which the teen claimed included users from around the world.

“I HAVE TO BEAT ADAM LAZA . . .” he wrote nine days before the Sept. 28, 2016, shooting in a misspelled reference to the Sandy Hook killer, Adam Lanza. “Atleast 40.”
Two days later, he debated whether he should attack his middle school, from which he’d been expelled, or his elementary school, just up the road. He decided on Townville Elementary because it was closer and had no armed security. Jesse, who considered himself the victim of an unfair world, announced online that he would kill kids he didn’t know and had never met “before they bullie the nobodys.”
“Itll be like shooting fish in a barrel,” he wrote his friends, whose identities remain unclear, along with whether the FBI has tracked any of them down. The agency declined to comment, citing Jesse’s open case.
In the chat, he said he had researched police response times for the area and found that it would take them 15 minutes to get there, maybe 45 for SWAT. He said he would throw pipe bombs into each classroom before he got in a shootout with police and killed himself with his shotgun. He said he had been planning a massacre for two years.
A detective later discovered that Jesse, then a 6-foot-tall, 147-pound wispy-haired blond with a voice that tended to crack, had used his phone to Google these terms: “deadliest US mass shootings,” “top 10 mass shooters,” “youngest mass murderer,” “10 youngest murderers in history.”
Seven hours after he was pinned to the ground outside Townville Elementary by a volunteer firefighter, Jesse acknowledged in an interview with investigators that he’d shot far fewer kids than he’d intended. The problem, he explained, was the weapon. He’d only had access to the .40-caliber pistol his father kept in a dresser drawer. It had jammed on the playground, just 12 seconds after he first pulled the trigger.
The weapon Jesse really wanted, the one he’d tried desperately to get, was, the teenager believed, locked in his father’s gun safe: the Ruger Mini-14, a semiautomatic rifle much like the gun that, 17 months later, was fired again and again at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, during one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
‘The first shot I hit someone’
His obsession began, he said, with a song that mentioned Columbine.
Jesse wanted to know what it meant, so he asked his father, who told him about the April 20, 1999, attack that became a seminal moment in the evolution of modern mass shootings.
“And so I researched more,” he said during his confession. “Then I looked up all these other ones.”

A 13-year-old boy, Bappah Adamu, died while scrambling for money thrown at a crowd near Bauchi-Maiduguri Highway. It was gathered that the boy was knocked down by a vehicle, while he tried to get at money thrown by the member representing Ganjuwa/Darazo federal constituency at the National Assembly.
The incident occurred at Konkiyel town, when the lawmaker was leaving after visiting the site of a project he is executing in the town. A source in the town, Safiyanu Konkiyel, who confirmed the incident, said the money was thrown into the air near the highway and people rushed to pick the Naira notes scattered on the road. Contacted on telephone, the Divisional Police Officer in Darazo did not confirm the incident, saying that the matter has not been reported to them. Speaking to Vanguard on telephone concerning the matter, a politician, Nasuru Darazo, said that he was aware that the lawmaker visited Darazo, Soro and Konkyel on Saturday and revealed that he was aware that the lawmaker was booed in Soro, but cannot confirm the death of the 13-year-old boy in Konkiyel town. In another development, an electricity transformer donated to Soro town was earlier rejected by people of the town. According to reports, the people rejected the power transformer donated by the lawmaker because, according to them, he had neither executed any constituency project nor visited the area since he was elected in 2015. The lawmaker was reportedly booed when he visited Soro town on Saturday and pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Special Assistant to Governor Mohammed Abubakar on Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, and Social Investment Progra-mmes, SIPs, Mansur Manu Soro, were waved at him.
